Join us to see one of the prettiest parts of the Confederation Trail on Prince Edward Island, and ride from St. Peter’s to Morell and back (24 km). You’ll see oyster beds, shining water, and fields of wild spring flowers. Given its railway heritage, the Confederation Trail spans 470km across PEI, has little to no grades and is well-drained. With a mission to create a shared spiritual adventure for sisters and local communities through bike rides, this will be an organized, recreational group ride at a pace for all ages with meaningful prayer stops. Join sisters from the Congregation of Notre-Dame de Montreal and Sisters of Saint Martha on a spiritual ride you won’t forget, supported by the prayers of Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Ragusa.

What is it?

A fun, cycling ride with prayer stops along the way to connect us to the needs of our world. This isn’t a fundraiser. Cycling with Sisters is a spiritual adventure that combines bike riding, prayer, and online community. You can connect with this ride a bunch of ways:

Pray with us! You can join us virtually on the day of the event as we’re hoping to live stream the prayers

Ride with us! You’ll ride with Catholic sisters and other people of all ages who advocate for peace and justice. You don’t have to be a serious cyclist. Without stops, the ride is about 2 hours, so with stops, it will take a bit longer and give us a chance to gather our group and catch our breath. All levels of riders are welcome, though we recommend some practice rides so you can complete the 24 km.

When is it?

October 3rd, 2020 from 1 pm to 4:30 pm Atlantic Time.

How far is it?

St.Peter’s to Morell and back to St. Peter’s is about 24km. We’ll cycle 5-6 km at a time and break for prayer stops.

How do I join?

Register online! Spacing is limited to 40 riders due to COVID restrictions, so sign up before the ride fills up!

What is the cost?

There is a suggested registration fee of $10 for an individual and $20 for a family. Please bring this in cash on the day of the ride. Donations will go to S.A.F.E.

Where do I go on the day of the ride?

Sign in is from 1 to 1:15pm Atlantic Time at the St Peter’s Visitor Information Centre. (Pre-registration is required online as participant number is limited to 40).
You’ll be given a Cycling with Sisters shirt for the ride and other Cycling with Sisters swag. Please bring the suggested $10 registration fee for an individual or $20 for a family in cash.

What do I need?

A bike, a helmet, and a way to get you and your bike to St. Peters. We aren’t arranging rides or rentals, but there are rentals on PEI in St Peters Bay or Charlottetown. Note: helmets are required for all riders on the Confederation Trail.

What about food and water?

There is a place you can fill up your water at the start and end in St Peter’s, and at the mid-point in Morell. We’ll have reusable water bottles for you on site, or you can bring your own. There will be restorative snacks and milk as we end the ride in St Peter’s.

Are there age restrictions?

No age restrictions, but because the number of participants is limited to 40 people, we ask that riders be able to complete the 24 km. If this is in your ability, join us! (You can turn around at any point during the ride, but we hope this is the exception, not the expectation).

Why should I ride?

There are lots of reasons why it’s great to ride! Cycling allows us to connect with nature, get some exercise, feel the wind in our faces, and have fun!

But the best reason? On our bike rides you get to know Sisters, to pray with them along the way, and to share the joy and freedom of the ride together!

See you on October 3rd, when we’ll bring together prayer, action and an awesome ride!
